Smurfit Kappa holds eighth Innovation Event this year in Paris
Smurfit Kappa held its eighth Innovation Event this year in Paris. Over 250 customers came to the “Packaging and Perspectives” event which took a look at how packaging will be affected by supply chain and network fragmentation using a variety of media.
Alongside the conference, visitors had the opportunity to participate in an interactive live session with two Smurfit Kappa design teams tasked with developing complete shelf ready packaging and display solutions in real time. The designs that were created were based on votes from the customers which added to the atmosphere on the day.
To help create optimised packaging solutions, the design teams used insights from the Smurfit Kappa ShelfSmart and SupplySmart tools. At the end of the day, the participants were able to see the end results using an advanced virtual reality shop projected on a 15-metre screen, which brought to life the possibilities of the packaging industry in a very vivid way.
The event also encouraged plenty of debate as there were lively discussions on a number of topics including ‘The Commercial Big Bang’ and ‘Merchandising Packaging Challenges.’
Participants were also able to visit an interactive packaging exhibition which included the latest Smurfit Kappa’s innovations and insights in design and sustainability, against the backdrop of an exciting virtual reality experience.
Gerard Mathieu, Marketing and Innovation Director, Smurfit Kappa France commented: “These Innovation Events are excellent opportunities to debate the future possibilities of the packaging industry with our customers. It is fantastic to see how many new and exciting projects are generated in these events, by bringing innovative ideas and talented specialists together.”
This event followed seven previous Innovation Events held by Smurfit Kappa across Europe during which hundreds of customers came to see first-hand how packaging can help to improve their business using a range of digital technologies and media.
