What makes Smurfit Kappa a stand out employer?
Whilst Smurfit Kappa is without question a highly successful global business – our three key strategic priorities People, Planet and Impactful Business are what really makes us an employer of choice.
People – as our talent pipeline of future leaders, graduates and placement students are a clear priority. Investment in both their personal and professional development takes place not just through training (both on and off the job), but also through the opportunities available, the exposure to different people and situations, and the levels of responsibility given.
This focus on people can be seen throughout our organisation – for example our EveryOne Inclusion and Diversity Programme, established in 2019, actively celebrates our global multi-cultural workforce, and appreciates the value that diversity brings.
As well as the people within our business, we are also committed to supporting those in the communities in which we operate, actively supporting projects that will build a sustainable future for them, whether that is through income generation, education, collaboration or participation.
Planet - For many years, our operations have been designed around a circular business model to help tackle sustainability challenges such as pollution, waste and climate change. We start with sustainable primary raw materials (76% of which is recycled fibre), use organic by-products as biofuel and circulate our process waters as many times as we can. We are so confident in our model that we have committed to a target of at least net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
Impactful Business – All in all, our aim is to make a difference – to our customers through innovation in our products and solutions to their business issues, to our people through striving for the highest standards of corporate governance and ethical business conduct, and to the planet through sustainable and responsible sourcing, and chain of custody guaranteeing a verifiably sustainable packaging supply chain.
