The Challenge

Signify, a global leader in lighting solutions, sought a better way to package industrial lights and their components. The goal was to simplify the original six-piece packaging while enabling easy assembly through manual folds - eliminating the need for glue. Additionally, they wanted the design to allow content inspection without opening the package.

The Approach
Our expert designers created a three-piece, hand-erected packaging solution consisting of a tray, lid, and insert to securely hold the light and components. Inspection holes on two sides allow for a quick quality check, ensuring everything is packed correctly. Additionally, our PackExpert tool optimised the pallet configuration to maximize product capacity.

The Result
The new corrugated packaging has streamlined the packing process and eliminated the need for glue, making it more sustainable. The new pallet configuration increased product capacity per pallet by 88%, reducing vehicle usage and cutting transport carbon emissions by 53%—from 10.5 tonnes per year to 5.6 tonnes per year. This innovative design also won an award at OBAL ROKU 2024, the Czech packaging awards.
