Smurfit Kappa’s innovative Bag-in-Box® collaboration attracts rave reviews

Smurfit Kappa Bag-in-Box® worked with premium wine seller the BIB Wine Co. to provide a range of attractive and innovative packaging solutions for its portfolio of wines.

Throughout a brisk first three months of trading, the wines, which have a soft-touch laminate finish on the outer case - a first for the UK market, have received rave reviews from wine experts, journalists and consumers.

The BIB Wine Co. has set out to make premium wines more accessible by providing them in bag-in-box format which offers a number of advantages over the traditional glass bottle. Firstly, due to the advanced bag films and Vitop taps used, air is prevented from reaching the wine and oxidising it – meaning that the product is kept fresh for longer, encouraging more responsible drinking.

Secondly, Bag-in-Box wines are portable and lightweight making them very suitable for outdoor events such as barbecues and festivals. With the UK enjoying higher than usual temperatures this summer, there has been an increase in alfresco drinking, particularly of white and rosé wines.

The new BIB Wine Co. range also provides fine wines at a lower cost than their glass bottle equivalents making them accessible to more consumers.
