Smurfit Kappa Beacon currently has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Team Leader to join the team at the site in Aldershot. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and with line management responsibility for the Shift Engineers, this role will be responsible for the day to day running of all Engineering activities at Beacon.
They will also develop and improve the Plant Preventative Maintenance Program with a constant drive towards continuous improvement and improving reliability of the plant.
Key duties of the role include:
- Hands on lead of the Shift Engineering teams.
- Cover for the Engineering Manager and some engineering shift cover as required.
- Support the shift engineers with:
- Health & Safety and continuous improvement project completion and
- Providing operations with a proactive, innovative, performance & reliable engineering service.
- Work with Engineer Manager providing support and development plans for shift engineers incorporating monthly 1:1 with the shift Engineers.
- Be a role model of Smurfit Kappa’s Health & Safety commitment and vision.
- A key stakeholder within the improvement plans for engineering and operations.
- Working with the Engineering Manager and Shift Engineers to schedule all engineering activities.
- Assist with understanding accountability and communication improving the quality of feedback across all departments
- Implement and endorse preventative / predictive maintenance systems, tools and ideas (Shire System) and improve tasks scheduling/required inspections with the Shire planner, measured by key targets
- Working alongside the shift Engineers driving Shire usage, reporting, adherence and communicate all outstanding actions across Engineering and Production teams.
- Manage and drive forward CI development plans within the factory, CBM, Lean, 5s, CIL & 8D, SMED, OS5 improving safety, reliability and productivity.
- Work collaboratively with all departments to improve health and safety, guaranteed quality, reduced waste, optimised productivity and improved MTBF whilst reducing MTTR.
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- An experienced engineer with team management experience, with extensive experience working within a FMCG work environment
- Electrical and Mechanical qualifications are required.
- Ideally electrically biased or strong electrical understanding ensuring full legal compliance
- Good communicator including effective listening skills to all stakeholders, internal & external.
- Good literacy, numeracy, problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good level of IT skills & a good understanding of Shire System.
- Driven & self- motivated with good diagnostic skills.
- Team player that has ability to work with shift engineers & across departments.
- Understanding & experience of:
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Experience of mechanical drive systems.
- Fault finding on ac drives (Siemens, ABB, and SSD etc.).
- Knowledge of Siemens S5, S7 & Allen Bradley plc’s.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to lead project charters and implementing solutions.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to prioritise workload, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Calm and approachable attitude, able to work well and make decisions under pressure.
