A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a HSQE Lead to join our successful speciality plant based in Yate, South Gloucestershire.  Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and development of the Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) standards and systems across Machine Systems and with the support of the Leadership team determine, drive and lead the implementation of the HSQE strategy ensuring and exceeding compliance with both legal and Smurfit Kappa standards.

 

Main duties:

  • Leadership: must remain calm at all times even in the face of difficult challenges in the workplace; they have to lead by example in such a situation. Monitoring and reporting business KPIs for QHSE.
  • Safety: the QHSE Manager is responsible for raising awareness, preventing accidents and making sure safety measures are adhered to in the business. Develop and maintain the integrated management system for Health and safety, Quality and Environmental. IOSH/NEBOSH qualified.
  • People: leading the company’s QHSE deliverable, by education and allocating tasks to capable staff, establishing improvements targets and supporting the development of the whole team.
  • Quality & Service: monitoring and improve standards to provide our customers’ with the very best level of quality and service. Focus on Supplied, Internal and customer quality targets.
  • Control: making sure work places meet QHSE benchmark requirements. Establish procedures and recommend changes in policies if the need arises. Recommend solutions to issues, prevention measures, and other avenues for improvement. Develop and deliver the business audit plan.
  • Operational Development: apart from day-to-day QHSE management, the QSHE lead also plays a key role in supporting the development of the overall operational standards in the business. Managing our exposure as an original equipment manufacturer, the QSHE role will need to support the business with compliance to the machinery directive, keeping up to date with standards and legislation.
  • Managing third party relations: the organization may make use of different third party services, such as material suppliers, transport and sub-contractors. The QHSE lead needs to ensure that they are compliant with our operating procedures and meet legal requirements.

Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Previous experience and knowledge of QHSE management.
  • Good leadership abilities and strong team working skills, with an ability to motivate others.
  • The ability and awareness to provide exceptional levels of service in a high pressure; customer focussed business environment; delivering against agreed deadlines & priorities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and a high level of accuracy.
  • The ability to think quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and organisational abilities.
