Smurfit Kappa Machine Systems are experts in developing, producing and installing automated packing lines to deliver high levels of service to their customer base within Green and Industrial solutions.

We are recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer, who report directly to the Sales Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating, fostering and continuously managing third party sales, whilst also providing technical sales support, a customer care program and complete interface with Smurfit Kappa Sales for automation solution sales primarily linked (but not essentially) with corrugated sales. With your customer focussed solution-oriented attitude and ability to think outside the box, you are ensuring the profitable growth of Machine Systems.

Key duties & responsibilities include:

  • Strengthen positive relationship with existing customer portfolio and pro-actively develop new relationship with third party sales.
  • Build sustainable relationships across Smurfit Kappa corrugated. Act as an ambassador for Machine Systems to support all SK sales teams accordingly.
  • Act as technical ambassador both internally and externally (i.e. stakeholder/customer technical training, participation in external knowledge sharing, fairs & conferences, etc).
  • Support the development process of the customer from initial enquiry to final costing formulation in line with Machine Systems’ model.
  • Analyse process workflow against targets and ensure that responsibilities are split across.
  • Track and respond to customers on significant quality issues and analyse causes and possible solutions.
  • Provide on-site technical support in terms of board and machinery supply as well as proactive problem solving.
  • Work closely with the Technical Sales and Logistics Team to ensure projects and sales are delivered to budget and on time.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proven experience of cost estimating and customer management with a strong general business acumen, and knowledge of SK and the industry in general.
  • Knowledge of Automation principals and Machinery ranges/types to deliver the correct solution for the customer and all stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication (including negotiation) skills; value-added solution selling.
  • Self-starter and empathetic.
  • Have a wide degree of adaptability, creativity and enjoys dealing with complex problem solving.
  • Collaborative mindset and excellent people skills including communication, training and leadership ability skills with the ability to align, empower and inspire others.
  • Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in using Protean.
  • Understanding of technical drawings (Factory Layouts) preferred but not essential.
