Smurfit Kappa Barnstaple is one of the UK’s largest producers of corrugated packaging for the trade. The Warehouse Department is now looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative to support the current team.
Working on the 10am-6pm shift as part of an established team you will be responsible for operating the strapper, loading/unloading pallets and marshalling pallets. The successful candidate will have a key role in ensuring a safe and timely delivery of SK product and the quality of the finished goods pallets received by our customers.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• Operate at all times in line with training provided and in particular with the requirements of all safe systems of work related to the tasks performed
• Always work in line with advised health and safety and company quality standards
• General manual handling
• Understanding & appreciation of H&S
• Operating the hand strapper
• Booking product out using our computer system
• Loading/Unloading vehicles
• Marshalling finished goods
• Feeding work to all machines across the factory
• Communicating with other departments regarding despatches
• Re-working of pallets
• Dispersing of palletised waste
• Maintaining good housekeeping levels in the warehouse and yard
Ideally the successful candidate will have the following:
• Experience within a manufacturing environment
• Experience working in a fast paced environment
• An energetic and proactive “hands on” approach, complemented by accuracy, adherence to deadlines and procedures
• Good literary, numeracy and computer skills
• Previous FLT experience and a strong understanding of despatch processes.
• Logical thought process and be able to work alone as well as part of a structured team.
• Ability to make calculated decisions under pressure, alongside offering a flexible and adaptable attitude towards work.
• Strong communication skills and a keen attention to detail are also a necessity
