For many of our factory floor colleagues in Morocco, it was proving challenging to wash their workwear effectively at home due to a lack of laundry equipment and high associated costs. This was having a negative impact on the work environment and causing significant stress and pressure among our people. A solution was discovered by looking to the community for help.

 A nearby family launderette was struggling to survive and on the cusp of closure when Smurfit Westrock approached them. The launderette happily agreed to a partnership and has been laundering our teams’ workwear ever since.

 

This initiative has not only provided immeasurable convenience and a more positive workplace for our colleagues, but has alleviated financial burdens, promoted well-being and ensured the survival of another local business.

Our colleagues also praised the change: "I love how the new system makes everything easier," said Sanae, a converting operator. "It's streamlining our tasks and ensuring a more organized and efficient workspace for everyone," added Yassine, a corrugating operator.
